According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there are more than 1.2 million people in the U.S., 13 years of age and older, living with HIV and 1 in 7 people (14%) are unaware they are infected.
Let’s Beehive! offers a program called “BeeAWARE” where they participate in educating the community about HIV/AIDS during National Awareness Days, with an emphasis on populations known to be disproportionately affected with this disease. The goal of this program is to increase one’s knowledge about HIV/AIDS, reduce stigma, and improve the number of people who know their HIV status.
